WEST LAFAYETTE -- Host Newcomerstown picked up win number one of the young golf season on Monday with a 395-496 victory over Conotton Valley at Hickory Flats Golf Course.

Leading the Trojans' effort was match medalist Bailey Guy with rounds of 45 and 42 for an 87, followed by Thurman Gibson with 98, Chase Arnold 104 and Rylan Popadak with 106.

Hunter Flaharty led the Rockets with a 104, followed by Daniel Robingson (108), Tanika Yosick (125) and Kynsley Hendershot (159).

Newcomerstown improves to 1-1 on the season, with Conotton Valley now at 0-1.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Hiland High collected first place during the 23 team Indian Valley Invitational at River Greens Golf Course on Monday.

Hiland took the top spot with a score of 310, followed by Meadowbrook in second with 312 and rounding out the top 10 teams were Tri-Valley (320), Indian Valley (324), John Glenn (324), River View (328), Tuscarawas Valley (331), Zanesville (333), Ridgewood (339) and Dover (341).

Leading the Generals' effort was Nick Blakley with 78, along with Brice Dennis 81, Mason Waycaster 87, Adam Matusik 89 and Palmer Erb 98.

Girls Golf

PARIS -- Ridgewood High took part in the Tri-County Girls Golf League Preseason Tournament on Tuesday at Pleasant View Golf Course.

Dover took first place in the event with a team score of 317, with Louisville in the runner-up slot with 349 and Garaway finished in third place with 350.

The Lady Generals tallied a team score of 460, with Samantha Wilson leading RHS with an 89 followed by Sadie Wilson 106, Bethany Shuck 127, Hallie Reed 138, Tyra Reed 154 and Katy Chittum 160.
