WEST LAFAYETTE --Garaway High followed up last week's sectional championship with a 315 score to claim the top spot at the Division II District Golf Tournament at River Greens Golf Course.
John Glenn earned the second state tourney spot with a 329 score, which was nine shots better than Meadowbrook's 338 total. Coshocton (343) finished fourth followed by Tuscarawas Valley (346), Indian Valley (348), Ridgewood (355) and Minerva (372).
Garaway's state-qualifying squad includes Ben Koshmider (76), Broc Beachy (79), Cooper Stutzman (80), Logan Mast (80) and Brevin Weaver (85).
John Glenn delivered a strong one-two punch at the top of the lineup, with junior Dylan Van Fossen leading the way with a tournament medalist score of three-over par 72, one shot better than Garaway's Koshmider. Right behind Van Fossen was Nathaniel Bennett, who posted a 78 which was the fourth-best score of the day.
Rounding out the scoring for the Muskies were junior Bryan Smith with an 87 and freshman Jack Williams who posted an 89 as the No. 5 man. Senior Colin Harshbarger's 97 rounded out the JG scoring.
Junior Jarrett Helter and senior Brett Rentsch tied for the low score for Indian Valley with 86s; senior Jadan Hartzler carded an 87 and senior Michael Benamati had an 89 to complete the scoring. Freshman Dalton Burcher shot a 92.
For Ridgewood, junior Brice Dennis carded a solid 82 followed by sophomore Adam Matusik (87), senior Benjamin Blakley (89), sophomore Ryan Zinkon (97) and freshman Mason Waycaster (97).
While Coshocton's Gage Bosson had already secured the first of two state individual berths by carding a 77, Singleton, Coshocton's Logan Desender and Claymont's Alex Wright all came in at 79 forcing a playoff.
It only took one extra hole (No. 10) with Singleton landing the spot when he two-putted from eight feet for par while Desender had a bogey and Wright a double-bogey.
Cambridge junior Jacob Feldner was among eight golfers who had qualified for the district as individuals and he finished with an 83, four shots out of the playoff, due to some putting woes on the difficult greens including several lip-outs.
The other individual golfers' scores included Joel Shane of Martins Ferry (83), Isaac Davidson of East Liverpool (84), Jake Moore of River View (85), Joe Newlin of Beaver Local (87), Kyle Daugherty of River View (88), and Blake Stubbins of West Muskingum (92).

WEST LAFAYETTE - Indian Valley High's girls' golf team finished in fourth place at the Division II District Tournament at River Greens Golf Course.
The Lady Braves finished with a 396-stroke total, well back of champion Garaway which claimed the lone berth in the OHSAA Girls State Golf Tournament by carding a 335 score.
Minerva finished second at 384 followed by Beaver Local (387, Indian Valley (396) and John Glenn (399),
Indian Valley's low score was a 93 by sophomore Olivia Shaw. Also scoring were sophomore Makayla Keathley (95); sophomore Ashley Frye (100; sophomore Kiera Brown (108) and freshman Elle McDaniel (115).
Two Ridgewood girls also participated, with senior Samantha Wilson shooting an 86 while freshman Sadie Wilson carded 100.
Earning the lone individual state tournament spot was John Glenn junior Lexi Bubenchik, who posted a score of 76 to tie Garaway senior Ashleigh Rothacher for medalist honors.
Garaway and John Glenn's Bubenchik will compete in the D-II Girls' State Tournament on Friday and Saturday at The Ohio State University's Gray Course
