PICKERINGTON -- On Saturday at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Regional Cross Country Meet held at Pickerington North High School it was a lone local runner and one local team who qualified for next Saturday's OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.
Newcomerstown sophomore Brittney Roth advanced to the "Big Stage" as an individual while Indian Valley's boys' team also qualified.
Roth captured a seventh place finish in the girls' Division III race with a time of 19:50.0 to advance to National Trail Raceway in Hebron next Saturday for the state meet.
Only the top four teams and those individuals that finished in the top 16 in each division advanced to the state meet.
Roth had earned her spot at the regional level by turning in a third place showing at the Division III district meet at Cambridge High with a time of 19:15.34.
The Braves' boys team claimed fourth place in Division II team standings with 166 points to advance.
Trevor Ault led the Indian Valley effort with an eighth place finish with a time of 16:40.7, followed by teammates Hunter Probert (27th, 17:25.5), Cody Booth (36th, 17:34.3), Adam Lenhoff (62nd, 18:04.6), Mitchell Troyer (72nd, 18:13.0), Collin Border (87th, 18:33.1), Mitchell Giffen (88th, 18:33.5).
The OHSAA State Cross Country Championships take place Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron starting at 11 a.m.
