NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Visiting East Canton had no trouble scoring, while the host Newcomerstown Lady Trojans had trouble getting points as the Lady Hornets rolled to a 56-27 Inter-Valley Conference victory Wednesday.
Behind Savannah Yacklin who scored 24 points, the Lady Hornets took an early 12-9 lead and then added to that the second quarter our scoring the Lady Trojans 16-5 to take a commanding 28-14 lead to the locker room at the half.
Things didn't get any better for Newcomerstown the second half with East Canton boosting its lead with a 18-3 scoring edge the third frame to build the difference to 46-17. The Lady Hornets then sealed the deal in the fourth with a 15-10 scoring difference to provide the 56-27 final.
Newcomerstown (1-18) collected just six field goals, all two-pointers, but added 15-of-29 from the foul line. Maddie Fish led the Lady Trojans with eight points with Amaris Wells close behind with seven counters.
East Canton (5-13) hit 23 floor shots, including four from three-point range, and tacked on 11-of-17 from the bonus line. Yacklin led the way with her 24 points with Addison Loy and Jabria Knight following with seven points each.
Indian Valley 40
GNADENHUTTEN -- A huge third quarter lifted visiting Tuslaw High to a 44-40 victory over Indian Valley in PAC-7 action on Saturday afternoon.
The host Lady Braves held a 21-15 lead at the halftime intermission, but Tuslaw exploded with a 23-11 scoring edge in the third period to take an 38-32 lead heading to the fourth period.
Indian Valley attempted to rally in the final quarter with an 8-6 scoring advantage but came up short.
Mayci Sales tallied a game-high 18 points along with 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Mustangs, with sister Majestic Sales adding 10 and Harmony Miller chipped in with nine points.
Indian Valley was led by Alisha Garabrant with 11 points, while Kiara Rakestraw and Karissa Bardall each contributed eight points for the Lady Braves.
WEST LAFAYETTE -- Audrey Tingle poured in 26 points to lead the Ridgewood Lady Generals to a 45-14 Inter-Valley Conference win over the backyard rival Newcomerstown Lady Trojans Saturday afternoon.
Tingle had eight field goals, including a pair of threes and converted 8-of-10 from the foul line for the 26 point total.
The Lady Generals ripped off a 19-4 lead the opening quarter and never looked back adding a 11-6 difference the second round to take a commanding 40-10 lead to the locker room at halftime.
Both teams tallied just four points in the third round to keep the difference at 30 points and the Lady Generals sealed the deal the final eight minutes scoring 11 points, while shutting out the Lady Trojans to provide the 45-14 final.
Ridgewood connected on 17 floor shots and added 9-of-17 from the bonus line. Autumn Brown followed Tingle in scoring with eight points for the Lady Generals.
Newcomerstown managed just five field goals and tacked on 4-of-7 from the charity stripe. Amaris Wells paced the Lady Generals with five points with Jade Johnson close behind with four.
