COSHOCTON -- Ridgewood High will send three wrestlers to the OHSAA State Tournament after the Division III District Tournament on Saturday at Coshocton High School.
Representing the Generals will be Colton Bethel who claimed the championship in the 106-pound class, while Kasey Bethel was second at 170 pounds and Javon Merrill finished fourth in the 160-pound class. Tyler Caudy (132 pouunds), Nathaniel Thompson (195 pounds) and James Kedigh (220 pounds) will all be state tournament alternates with fifth place finishes in the District Tournament.
As a team, Ridgewood finished second with 118.5 points with Barnesville 17th (45 points), Union Local was 18th with 44 points and Newcomerstown finished 35th with 7.5 points.
Northmore took the team championship with 168 points followed by Ridgewood (118.5), Nelsonville-York (107), Shadyside (106.5) and rounding out the top five was West Jefferson with 92 points.
Division II District
HEATH -- Indian Valley will send three wrestlers on to the state tournament with Dalton Burcher claiming the Division II District Championship in the 120-pound class, Brady O'Connor was second in the 113-pound division and Adam Lenhoff was fourth at 126 points.
In the team standings, Claymont was first with 155.5 points followed by Steubenville (149), Carrollton (147), Beaver Local (104.5) and New Lexington rounded out the top five with 96.5 points. Indian Valley was sixth (91 points) with Meadowbrook 10th (50.5 points) and Cambridge was 28th with 15 points.
